Rebecca O’Connor
Rebecca O’Connor holds an MSc in Art Psychotherapy from the University of East London. She is a fully accredited and registered Art Psychotherapist with IACAT, The Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists.
She is a co-founder of Sligo Arts Psychotherapy Centre. She worked as a community artist and arts and healthcare practitioner for 5 years before training in a masters in Art Psychotherapy with the University of East London. She has been working as an Art Psychotherapist for 12 years. She works with all age groups.
With adults, she works with a variety of issues as well as personal growth and wellbeing. With children and teenagers, she works with emotional, developmental and behavioural issues. Her approach is person centred and non-directive and she only uses directive methods and techniques where appropriate.
She also works in the area of Self-Care and has developed and founded The Creative Container, a Self-Care workshop for Health Care Professionals through the use of reflective art-making practice.
