Creative reflective practice is a process that allows participants to reflect on their profession through the combined processes of reflective practice and creativity.
Creative reflective practice can be an enjoyable and relaxing way to process professional work, where you don’t need to be an artist or artistic to engage in it. It is a confidential space and time for you to express yourself and reflect. It can be beneficial in helping to alleviate and understand the stresses and emotions of health care work that can get stuck, be difficult and overwhelm us, as health care practitioners, affecting other parts of our lives.
The process of creative reflective practice enables participants to produce a visible image of what they may be experiencing. An Art Psychotherapist who is trained to be sensitive to the subtleties within this artwork helps participants to see and feel what they may be experiencing, reflect on it and discuss what arises from it. This can increase self-awareness and learning from the experiences and impacts of health care.
